After a year gap, Visakhapatnam city is hosting One Day International (ODI) cricket match to be held between India and Sri Lanka on December 17. Though, there is another three-week time to witness match, the cricket lovers and groups have been planning to celebrate the day.
Not only from Visakhapatnam, the cricket lovers from East and West Godavari districts, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram will throng the Andhra Cricket Association – Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association (ACA-VDCA) Stadium located at Pothinamallayyapaelm near Madhurawada.
Observing the demand for the ODI in the city, hotels and clubs are planning to show the match on big screens to celebrate the day. They are also planning special lunch and other programmes on the occasion. The capacity of ACA-VDCA Stadium is 38,000 with a lush green outfield and on every occasion, it was full with cricket lovers.
The cricket lovers are also making special arrangements to welcome the Men in Blue to the City of Destiny. According to sources, players are expected to reach the city on December 15.
As many as six ODIs were played in the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium and Visakhapatnam wicket and pitch is said to be luckiest to India as out total six ODIs, India won five matches here. MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 147 also recorded in this stadium in 2004. The stadium also received the Test status in 2015.
However, there was only one five-day test match was conducted in the city with England in which Men in Blue won the match. The city also hosted only one T-20 match in which India won.
