Freedom fighter and senior CPM leader Anne Anasuya (92) passed away on Saturday evening at her residence in Shanti Nagar of Eluru town.

Eluru: Freedom fighter and senior CPM leader Anne Anasuya (92) passed away on Saturday evening at her residence in Shanti Nagar of Eluru town.

Anne Anasuya at the age of 13 years, entered into freedom movement. She got married to Anne Venkateswara Rao, another freedom fighter and CPM leader during political classes of CPM. She was in jail from 1948 to 1951. She worked as CPM District Committee member, EluruTaluq committee secretary. From 1980-90, she was the General Secretary of VyavasayaKarmikaSangham. As AIDWA senior leader, she fought for the rights of the women.

She is survived by a son and a daughter. She participated in the agitations in the district along with her husband Anne Venkateswara Rao. Anne Anasuyastrove for establishing AP Rythu Sangham and AIDWA district office atPowerpeta in the city.
