Visakhapatnam: It was no regular weekend for the cricket lovers in the city. From marking their calendars to re-scheduling their outings, everything was done by them to get lost in the world of cricket on Sunday in the city.

The expectations for the final One-day International (ODI) in Visakhapatnam on Sunday ran high after India bounced back with a sweet revenge against Sri Lanka at Second One-day International (ODI) in Mohali levelling the three-match series 1-1.

With all set eyes on the decider of three-match series, the spectators thronged the picturesque Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam amidst scenic hills from morning itself despite the match being scheduled at 1.30 pm.

By the time cricket match began, the stadium was tightly packed with the more than 30,000 cheering crowd. Police imposed curbs on NH-16 stretch from 11 am to 11 pm on Sunday for the smooth conduct of the match. The long-wait of the cricket fans was paid back by the Indian cricket team by clinching three-match series against Sri Lanka.

Fireworks of Shikar Dhawan with bat made audiences at the stadium celebrate the game. Even, the hoteliers and restaurants in the city have come up with special screenings and packages for the Vizagites in view of the cricket match.

Earlier, apprehensions by naysayers about the match would not be interesting due to absence of Virat Kohli in the team was proved to be wrong. The cricket lovers in the city feel that the game has moved away from celebrating one man show to enjoying team show.
