Kurnool: The principle opposition party YSR Congress has decided to withdraw from the MLC election fray in Kurnool district. The MLC seat fell vacant after YSRCP leader Silpa Chakrapani Reddy quit the post before joining the YSRCP from the TDP. Nominations for the seat will be received from December 26 while the voting will be on January 12.

The YSRCP leaders alleged that the ruling TDP continues to ridicule the democracy by engaging in corrupt activities. The party leadership stated that it would move out of the election fray even though the party has good number of MPTCs and ZPTCs in Kurnool.

Meanwhile, AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been convening meetings with the party leaders to zero in on the suitable candidate for the MLC seat.
