Nellore: Snowman Logistics Limited, India’s leading cold chain and integrated temperature-controlled logistics service provider, inaugurated their new warehousing facility at the Gateway Distriparks Limited at Krishnapatnam on Monday. The unit has a capacity of 3,600 pallets in temperature control and an additional 10,000 square feet of dry warehousing space.
As part of the 48-acre Logistics Park, customers of Snowman will be able to avail services such as customs clearance, empty container procurement, and port pickup and delivery at the same location, resulting in cost savings from reduced transportation for all export and import activities. With the addition of the new facility, the total capacity of Snowman Logistics has now increased to 1.07 lakh pallets, as part of its ongoing expansion strategy which was announced earlier, said Prem Kishan Gupta, Chairman of the company.
Further, Sunil Nair, CEO of the company, said riding on a robust demand for frozen shrimp and frozen fish in international markets, India exported 11,34,948 MT of seafood, worth an all-time high of US$ 5.78 billion which comes to around Rs 37,870.90 crore in 2016-17, which is expected to continue growing in the coming years.
He said Snowman has been facilitating these exports from Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Cochin, Chennai, and Mumbai. He also informed that the facility at the Krishnapatnam Port is another milestone to strengthen both operational structure and support to the seafood industry in the region. He said they were envisaging a further increase in the pallet capacity of the new unit, up to 10,000 pallets, in a phased manner, over the next two years.
