Hyderabad: The BJP appears to be set on opening up a battlefront in Andhra Pradesh against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. AP state BJP president Kanna Lakshminarayna will discuss the battle moves with Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again; this time along with Governor ESL Narasimhan on June 15, say sources. For them, it would be a two-day sojourn in Delhi to script strategies to deal Naidu who is going overboard in attacking the Prime Minister and the BJP dispensation.

As the Telugu Desam camp would be watching with growing interest, Lakshminarayana, who met the Prime Minister on Tuesday, has been asked to stay in Delhi for two more days and will attend the meeting with PM along with the Governor. Top sources said that the meeting is likely to finalise a political strategy to be adopted by the BJP in Andhra Pradesh ahead of 2019 elections. The frequent visits to Delhi by the Governor and the meetings between PM and Governor in the recent times have assumed political significance.

Sources said the Governor will brief Modi about the fresh political developments taking place in Andhra Pradesh and share his views with regard to the ongoing fight for special status by the YSR Congress and also the deekshas organised recently by the ruling TDP under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu and its impact on state politics directly.

In the wake of speculations that the BJP, YSR Congress and Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena will forge a pre-poll alliance, sources said that all these issues will also come up for a discussion in the meeting. Modi will give a direction to Lakshminarayana to lead the party in Andhra Pradesh with an aim to win more number of Lok Sabha seats, by negotiating terms tactfully with “allies” YSRCP and Jana Sena.

The Governor has already been entrusted with the task of monitoring political developments in Andhra and Telangana, the sources said, adding that Narasimhan will keep a watch on the two states and prime the Delhi leadership with details till 2019 elections.

In a related development, Lakshminarayana met BJP chief Amit Shah, and discussed the broad contours of the political strategy to be adopted for increasing the BJP’s footprints in Andhra Pradesh and win as many number of Lok Sabha seats as possible to help be in the saddle for a second innings.
