Vijayawada: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is now giving digital numbers to every house in the city. Earlier, also there was house number system but increasing population and development of the city due to Amaravati capital construction compelled the allotment of exclusive digital numbers to every house in the city. Now the house identification has become easy.
Furthermore, the officials of the corporation began a survey to digitise the houses. The survey teams are collecting the details like house owner’s name, Aadhaar number, electricity connection and charge details, phone number, house tax number, water connection number, house plan document details, BPS plan number, commercial shops TIN number and licence payment details.
The officials of the corporation assumed that the integrated survey would be helpful not only to know the detailed information about the city but also to introduce various development works. Especially, the plans could be made for development of the city, said Municipal Commissioner J Nivas.
He said that the corporation could provide facilities in a better manner with the help of the survey. He said that the house number was being allocated totally in a scientific system.
Admitting that this would help serve the citizens in a better way, several people's representatives opined that the survey should be utilised for multipurpose.
Former corporator B Srinivasa Rao said that any address or house number could be traced in the city limits easily after the allotment of digital numbers. He said the properties also could be protected under this system wherever the owners are living in the globe.
He said the government introduced the system in the past but it was not materialised due to several reasons. He urged the officials to complete the survey and allotment of numbers scientifically. He said that the allotment of digital numbers assumed significance due to ongoing Amaravati capital city construction works.
