Hyderabad: Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in coastal Andhra Pradesh on August 23, 24 and 25, the Met department warned on Monday. The forecast said light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over the coastal districts on August 22, at many places on August 23 and at most places on August 24 and 25.

Light to moderate rain/thundershowers may occur at isolated/few/many areas of Rayalaseema from August 22 to 25. No large change during the subsequent three days is the weather outlook.During the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Monday, rain occurred at a few places over the coastal and Rayalaseema districts.

The decline in rainfall is attributed to Monday’s low pressure area moving away and now lying over southwest Madhya Pradesh and its neighbourhood. The Met department bulletin said the associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and tilting southwestwards with height is persisting.

The trough at the mean sea level now passes through Barmer, centre of low pressure area over southwest Madhya Pradesh and its neighbourhood, Akola, Bramhapuri, Kalingapatnam and then east-southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal.
The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the two regions of the State during the last 24 hours were: Tekkali 4, Sullurpet and Nagari 3 each.
