Tirupati: The seventh anniversary of noted English daily ‘The Hans India’ celebrated with pomp and gaiety here on Wednesday. Speakers at the function stressed on betterment of working conditions of journalists, who are backbone of any publication.

The chief guest and Vice-Chancellor of Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) Prof V Durga Bhavani complimented The Hans India, saying that with no exception, the daily has been giving a fillip to the journalism and an exception covering hitherto uncovered areas and focussing on unsung people. She also stressed the importance of fourth estate and observed that without this pillar the other three cannot stand.

Another chief guest and noted eye specialist Dr R Sudha Rani mentioned the special features of The Hans India in detail. She particularly mentioned the special page of women titled ‘Womenia’ and said that it is so inspiring for women. The ‘Reader’s Pulse’ page ‘Inbox’ has been bringing the views of readers on various current issues so aptly, she observed.

The ‘Young Hans’ page is extremely useful to students preparing for competitive examinations and going for higher studies.Senior journalist A Raghava Sharma spoke on the importance of newspapers, how they fulfil the aspirations of the readers and the changing scenario in the field.

People from all walks of life spoke on the occasion and complimented The Hans India for giving utmost priority to local news as people wants to know the happenings in their surroundings and an encouragement to various social organisations, artists and political leaders.

They stressed on how the paper has been bringing the stories on day-to-day developments. On this occasion, the chief guests gave away mementoes to several agents of The Hans India, who are doing yeomen service in taking the paper to each and every corner.
