Illegal quarrying has led to the death of a married woman in Nagari of Chittoor district. A speeding tipper coming with a heavy load from the illegal quarry, which was forcibly reopened due to pressure from the TDP leaders, mowed down a woman on Friday afternoon. The woman is survived by husband and three children.
On knowing about the incident, MLA RK Roja rushed to the spot and demanded action against the quarry owners. She also decried the attempts of the police to lift the body without conducting an inquest.
When Roja countered them, the police kept the body at the accident spot. Roja alleged that the quarry was closed sometime ago, but was forced open under pressure from the TDP leaders and with the active help of the local CI. She demanded that the CI be suspended for promoting illegal activities and wanted suitable compensation for the kin of the deceased.
