Rajamahendravaram: Peforming ‘Simantham’ to pregnant women in seventh or ninth month is a common event in all families. But, in a touching gesture, Sri Satya Sai Medical Shop owner Varada Subba Rao of Velcheru village in Atreyapuram mandal performed Simantham to a pregnant cow, which was at their house from many years on Sunday.

As the family members treat the cow as Goddess and believed that it brought prosperity to them, Subba Rao celebrated the event in a grand manner, amidst vedic mantras, melam and nadaswaram.

They decorated the cow with new clothes and ornaments including bangles which is an important event in Simantham. He invited the villagers and hosted lunch to them which became a topic in that area. The villagers complimented Subba Rao family for performing Simantham to the cow.
