Rajamahendravaram: Rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary has said that postal department is extending its services in banking sector also for the benefit of the people along with its present services in insurance and logistics sectors.
The MLA inaugurated India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) branch in the premises of head post offices here on Saturday and said that the bank will be beneficial to the people, as it is having facilities such as mobile banking, SMS banking, internet banking, IVR/missed call banking, banking at the doorstep of the customer etc.
Savings and current accounts also will be allowed in IPPB, round the clock cash transfers, payment of scholarships, payment of government subsidies relating to various welfare schemes, insurance services and payment of bills relating to water, electricity, mobile phones etc will be available at IPPBs. The MLA asked the people to avail the services of IPPB.
City BJP MLA Dr Akula Satyanarayana said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated IPPB at New Delhi on Saturday and 850 branches across the country are also opened.
IPPBS were aimed to serve the people in banking services and mainly to the people living in rural areas. IPPBs provide all services on par with commercial banks, he said.
Rajamahendravaram postal division superintendent N Raja Ratnam said IPPB branches in Konthamuru, Alcot Gardens, Visranthipuram and Nidigatla are also opened. He appealed to the people to avail the services of IPPB branches.
Mayor PRS Sai, Godavari Urban Development Authority chairman Ganni Krishna, MLC Adireddy Appa Rao, SC Corporation director K Naveen Kumar and others were present.
