Anantapur: The 29th national convention of the All India Students Federation (AISF), the student wing of Communist Party of India, was launched at the Government Arts College here on Thursday with more than 10,000 delegates from all over the country participating in the convention.

A host of leaders who spoke on the occasion lambasted the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for misleading various sections of people on several issues during his four-and-half-year rule. AP CPI secretary K Rama Krishna, while welcoming the delegates of AISF, stated that the district has been a hot bed of people's movements for decades.

He flayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for cheating the nation in the controversial Rafael Defence deal. Modi, by recommending Reliance firm over Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), has put the security of the country in jeopardy.

Reliance is a novice in Defence manufacturing while HAL is a highly experienced in aeronautics engineering, he stated. The CPI state secretary alleged that the communal elements affiliated to BJP were responsible for killing 30 persons on the issue of cow slaughter.

``Modi had gone back on several promises he made to the people in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He promised 2 crore jobs to jobless youth every year, left the farmers in distress and hiked petrol prices to an all time high of Rs.90 per litre. He deliberately lied to people saying he would deposit Rs.15 lakhs to every citizen account after bringing back the black money stashed in foreign banks,’’ Ramakrishna said.
