Vijayawada: Mystery still shrouds the death of Mohmmad Sadiq, the vice-president of Vijayawada Automobile Technicians Association. His body was found in Bandar canal at Ghantasala village in Krishna district on Monday night. His family members alleged that threats from the Income Tax department were the reason behind his death.

According to sources, he allegedly jumped into Bandar canal. However, there are no eyewitnesses. Sadiq received notices recently from the Income Tax department and was also warned about the irregularities in tax payments. The family members said that the officials of Income Tax department warned Mohammed Sadiq about Goods Services Tax (GST).

Under the pressure, Sadiq took the extreme step, it was alleged. The incident was sensational in the Autonagar. He had been running a body building unit for the last two decades. The officials did not respond to calls on the incident.
