Amaravati: Chief Electoral Officer RP Sisodia asked the National Service Scheme (NSS) coordinators and volunteers to play a vital role in registering maximum voters as well as to conduct ethical and inclusive elections during the ensuing elections to AP Assembly and LoK Sabha.

During an interaction with the students at the Secretariat on Monday, Sisodia said that they could interact with all the students across the State in all colleges and universities and ensure voter enrolment.

Since the last date is October 31 for enrolment in the voter list, Sisodia asked the students to take active part in it. The Election Commission is expecting about 30 lakh new voters this time.

Sisodia said that the NSS coordinators across the State could create awareness on voter registration and voting process. Right from preparation of electoral rolls to voting through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and voter verified paper audit trail (VVPATs), the CEO explained about the process involved in the elections.

He asked the NSS coordinators to encourage students to register as voters and involve Vice-Chancellors of the universities in the process of voter enrolment. The CEO said that the focus of elections was inclusive and ethical polling.

Stating that the volunteers have greater role to play in elections, he requested them to help the differently-abled voters to exercise their franchise. Suggesting to them to adopt villages, he said that 100 per cent polling was the target.
