Eluru: Inmates of SC Govt Boys Hostel at Gopalapuram staged a dharna at the hostel on Wednesday, protesting against neglect of menu in serving food apart from other problems.
The students complained that they had to walk for a distance of 2.5 kms to reach their school from the hostel. They also alleged that unhygienic conditions prevail on the premises of the hostel. The toilets were not cleaned every day. The hostel warden visits hostel occasionally by staying at a different place.
The agitators wanted the authorities to take action against the warden and ensure strict implementation of menu prescribed by the government. The substandard food served to them should be stopped immediately and arrange for quality food.
The boys urged the authorities to provide transportation facility from the hostel to school in order to reach the school on time.
Mundadugu Praja Party expressed its solidarity to the agitating students and requested the officials to solve problems of the hostel at the earliest.
