Visakhapatnam: In the wake of Vizag Navy Marathon to be held in the city, the police imposed traffic restrictions on the Beach Road from NTR Statue at RK Beach to Chepala Uppada area under Bheemili from 4 am to 11 am on November 18.

Over 15,000 people including the naval officers will be taking part in the fifth edition of Vizag Navy Marathon-2018. The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) in association with the AP Tourism Department and Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh is hosting the Marathon with a motto to bring Vizag into the landmark destination for the runners across India and take the Marathon as the best experience for the runner.

ACP (Traffic) K Prabhakar, in a press release, stated that vehicles will not be allowed (both sides of the road) from NTR Statue at the RK Beach to Jodugullapalem Junction from 3 am to 11 am on November 18.

The vehicular traffic on the other side (abutting the beach) of the road will be closed for all vehicles from Jodugullapalem to Chepala Uppada during the Marathon hours. All the approach roads to Beach Road will be remained closed for vehicular traffic, he added.

The buses and other vehicles heading towards Vizag city from Bheemil will be diverted via Dorathota area on the NH-16 stretch. VIPs coming to participate in the Navy Marathon and to witness the event have to park their vehicles on the services road on the Beach Road from Novotel Hotel to Gokul Park.

Naval officers coming to Beach Road via Collectorate have to park their vehicles (buses and others) at Coastal Battery area and on the road towards Fishing Harbour.

Participants and other people coming via Collectorate and Pandimetta Junction to participate in the Marathon have to park their vehicles along the service road near Gokul Park.
