Former chief secretary Ajeya Kallam said that the State is in shambles due to the unbridled borrowings, stinking corruption and government splurging public money for party interests
Tirupati: Former chief secretary Ajeya Kallam said that the State is in shambles due to the unbridled borrowings, stinking corruption and government splurging public money for party interests.
Speaking at a convention on the topic of `Save Andhra Pradesh’ organised by Jana Chaitanya Vedika (JCV) here on Sunday Kallam said that corruption reached alarming stage with everyone is forced to pay monthly mamools for anything and everything to MLAs or their henchmen.
The government is compelled to splurge public money for programmes like `Dharma Poratam’ Kallam said adding that the State had never witnessed such gross violation of splurging of money from the exchequer not for public welfare or works but to the programmes purely intend to achieve political ends.
He went on to observe in a dismal tone `I did not know where it will lead us … to the ultimate end as it is Kaliyuga?
He further said if the splurging of funds avoided, the government can easily extend Rs 10000 per acre land to the farmers as lump sum yearly financial support that will aid farmers in overcoming losses in farming.
Adding to the splurging the unbridled borrowings pushed the State into a debt trap and the State is forced to spend Rs 22000 crore yearly for loans and interests leaving no scope for any constructive works, he said hitting hard the State government going on for borrowings unmindful of the consequences.
Kallam said that backward areas like Rayalseema are now at the receiving end with the State government focusing only on Amarvathi development and alleged that Chief Minister is only interested in Amaravathi. In this connection, he alleged that it was due to CM Naidu’s insistence HCL set up its unit in Amaravathi, though the IT giant chief Shiv Nadar an ardent devotee of Lord Balaji is very particular to set up his IT firm in Tirupati area.
Kallmam and others who spoke said that to ensure the equal development of all regions the only way is brining public awareness through sustained and intense campaigns to build a strong movement to see that the government gives up its Amaravthi centric approach.
Rayalaseema Intellectual Forum convener, M Purushottam Reddy said that with no exception all the major parties since 2014 bifurcation vigorously pursuing `emotive politics’ in the State raking up sentiments for their advantage and survival and warned that it will ultimately prove fatal to the State.
He urged the people not to be carried away such emotive politics and see through the games of the political leaders including Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to save the State from peril. JCV president V Lakshman Reddy, For Information commissioner P Vijayababu, former MLC KS Lakshman Rao were the other speakers in the meet.
