Power contract employees demand regularisation
The contract employees working in the Electricity department demanded regularisation and warned the government that they would launch a massive agitation unless their demands were not solved immediately
Eluru: The contract employees working in the Electricity department demanded regularisation and warned the government that they would launch a massive agitation unless their demands were not solved immediately.
There are 1,800 contract employees working in 223 sub stations, district superintending engineer office, Transco SE office, section offices and readers in the sub divisional area.
They said that the services of their counterparts in Telangana were regularized and they are waiting for a long time to get their services regularized. Most of them have been working for the last 15 to 20 years with meager salaries.
All these employees were being paid salaries through a contractor who had been deducting some amount.
They demanded payment of salaries directly from the government. They also demanded to do away with piece-rate for metre reading and provide job security.
