Nellore: Padayatra launched by Farmers’ Association leaders from Atmakur to Nellore, demanding to resolve issue of dotted lands in the district, has reached the city on Monday. Later, they staged a protest in front of the Collectors chamber. State Secretary of Consortium of Indian Farmers’ Associations (CIFA) Chirasani Kotireddy and leaders of AP Rythu Sangam organised a three-day padayatra in the district.
They took out a rally from Penna Varadhi Centre to the Collectorate. Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy also staged protest in front of Collectorate chamber along with farmers expressing his solidarity. He demanded the district administration to provide rights without any unnecessary provisions to the farmers, who have been enjoying dotted lands for last 12 years.
“Authorities have been asking for link documents from the farmers. Majority farmers, who have been enjoying the lands are going to lose their right on the dotted lands. They would lose livelihood if authorities continue this kind of harassment on farmers for link documents,’ said Rural MLA Sridhar Reddy. He also warned that they would launch an agitation if district administration fails to resolve the issue within a week.
Further, Jana Sena leaders Kethamreddy Vinod Reddy extended their support and said that the farmers have been facing severe troubles with dotted land issue across the district. He said that the state government has been creating troubles to 35,000 farmer families in the district. Vinod Reddy stated that they would inform the issue to Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan.
