Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to fulfil the promises made during the bifurcation and do justice to the five-crore people of Andhra Pradesh. He wrote this letter marking the visit of Modi to Guntur city on Sunday. In his detailed letter, the CM pointed out that the people of Andhra Pradesh are angry with the Central government and the Prime Minister for not fulfilling the assurances given in Bifurcation Act and not according Special Category Status to the state.
Naidu said in the letter that the PM also knew that the BJP also played key role in the bifurcation of the state irrationally. He said the Prime Minister has assured the people that he would save both mother and child but failed to fulfil the same. He asked the PM to recollect what he had said during the meetings in Nellore, Tirupati, Madanapalle, Bhimavaram and Guntur.
Naidu said the Prime Minister gave only a pot of soil and water to the people of Andhra Pradesh and did nothing to help in the construction of the capital. He questioned as to how a world class capital could be built with Rs 1500 crore sanctioned by the Centre.
He said the Central government had not taken a decision on the Dugarajapatnam port, Kadapa steel plant, Vizag railway zone and allocating meagre funds for the construction of national institutions mentioned in the Act.
He said it will take 30 years to complete the institutions if the Union government sanctions very less grants as being done now during the last four years. “The people of Andhra Pradesh are very angry with you because you are adopting discriminatory attitude towards Andhra Pradesh in fulfilling the assurances in the Bifurcation Act,” wrote the CM.
He reminded that the Centre had taken back Rs 350 crore, which were allocated to develop the backward districts of Andhra Pradesh. He asked whether it is not detrimental to the interests of the federal spirit of the Indian constitution? “Prime Minister should know the sentiments and agitations of the people of Andhra Pradesh on the SCS,” Naidu said and questioned whether it is justified to come to Andhra Pradesh with empty hands and without fulfilling the promises of the Act. “I once again demand you that the Union government must fulfil the assurances given in the Bifurcation Act,” he wrote in the letter.
