Srikakulam: When compared to previous years rush, the turnout of devotes was less at the famous Sun God temple at Arasavalli in Srikakulam on Tuesday on Rathasapthami festival day.

The less turnout was due to too many restrictions by the police on the movement of devotees, it is alleged. In the name of maintaining parking space, queue lines and clearance of devotee rush, police imposed several restrictions. Even with moderate rush, devotees have to wait more than two hours on queue lines at Rs 500, Rs100, VIP categories.

Police allowed devotees on recommendation letters from MLAs, ministers and other leaders from Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts, it is said. Devotees turnout improved after 6 pm, said temple EO R.Pushpanadham and Srikakulam RevenueDivisional Officer, MV Ramana
