Solely developed by TVS, the mean looking street bike poses to be a real threat in the momentum gathering 250cc segment in ASEAN countries. To further kindle the competition, TVS Indonesia has showcased a Draken prototype in one of their showrooms, possibly to gather public interest in that rivalry nourishing product.
TVS Draken 250cc street fighter concept was unveiled in 2014 Auto Expo in February.
An interesting phenomenon in TVS Draken 250 is the exhaust outlet being placed beneath the engine. With no conventional piping system to direct the combusted gases to rear end of the bike, TVS calls this chopped off arrangement a reverse free flow high performance exhaust system.
Muscular design of Draken is well pronounced by matte white body colour, complimented matte black central stripe and font. The dull gold frame creeping beneath the fuel tank adds to solid appeal of Draken 250. Turn blinkers and tail light assembly looks futuristic. The single seater street bike also comes with active matrix digital speedometer and offset mono shock.
TVS Draken if launched (say in mid-2015), could meet upcoming rivals like Pulsar SS200, KTM RC 200, Honda CBR300R, Kawasaki Z250 and Mahindra Mojo in India. In Indonesia, 250cc segment is now red hot with bikes like Yamaha R25, Honda CBR 250R, Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS and Kawasaki Ninja 250.
