Hyderabad: Indian Motorcycle, the luxury two-wheeler brand owned by US-based Polaris Industries Inc, has chalked out plans to open eight new outlets across India by next year, taking its network to around 12.

On Friday, the American brand, whose name was inspired by Native American Indians or Red Indians, opened new showroom in the city. With the new outlet, the luxury two-wheeler maker has four showrooms in the country, including one each in New Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai.

“We are planning to open two more outlets in the next two months and take the network to 12 by end of the next year as India is a key emerging market for brands like Indian,” Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director, Polaris India Private Limited, told media here after inaugurating the new outlet.

At present, the company has six luxury bikes with prices ranging from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 35 lakh. “Response to our products is good and our market share has already reached 10 per cent in the luxury segment where we are present,” he said. Replying to query, he said the company would consider setting up an assembly plant in the country in few years down the line.
