Sunil Kumar, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hyderabad based Travel World, has been elected as president of United Federation of Travel Agents Associations (UFTAA), the global body of travel agents associations.
Sunil Kumar, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hyderabad- based Travel World, has been elected as president of United Federation of Travel Agent’s Associations (UFTAA), the global body of travel agents associations.
Kumar, who is currently president of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), was unanimously elected at the annual general assembly of UFTAA held at Brussels recently. Apart from Travel World, Sunil Kumar also heads Travel World Holidays. He also serves as Managing Director of Interserve Travels Pvt Ltd, which is India’s oldest travel consortium with 48 locations.
The UFTAA is a non-profit confederation, representing regional associations from some 80 countries. It effectively represents interests of travel agents and tour operators in both inbound and outbound travel by continuous dialogue and consultation with other international organizations such as the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Hotel and Restaurant Association (IH&RA) the International Union of Railways (IUR), the International Road Union (IRU), and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) to mention only a few.
The trade body works closely with other world bodies such as UNESCO, WHO, etc. for a sustainable and responsible tourism. It is an affiliate member of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and its Business Council (WTOBC).
