Hyderabad: The Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTAPCCI) has expressed its surprised for not mentioning any new rail project or line announced in the Railway Budget for the both the telugu states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

It said in a statement, that the budget ignored the strong demand for separate railway zone for Andhra Pradesh at Vishakhapatnam and railway line connectivity to the new Capital City Amaravati-Vijayawada-Guntur.

However the trade body thanked the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu for sparing the passengers from fare hike besides offering better services thus making railway journeys enjoyable.

In a release, it has also welcomed the proposal of rapid expansion of freight corridors and giving high priority to them through innovative financing mechanisms including PPP.

It said that the revenue generation channel is important for the better performance of the railways. However, these channels can be structured with proper ways. On the proposal of setting up Rail Development Authority, the FTAPCCI said that it protects the interest of the railway users.
