Hyderabad: The eighth edition of Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES-2017), scheduled to be held during November 28-30 here, will rev up investments into Hyderabad and Telangana as it is slated to bring a large number of entrepreneurs sand investors from around the world, industry bodies feel.

The mega conclave will give a big boost to Brand Hyderabad as it is happening in South Asia for the first time, they say. Holding a positive view of the summit, industries bodies such as CII, FTAPCCI and AIPMA that The Hans India spoke to, further say that such global events always add value to the local economy. With the prime focus of the upcoming summit being women entrepreneurs, it will also give fillip to local women entrepreneurs, they add.

Hyderabad IT industry has women representation of over 35 per cent and this gives tremendous potential of startup ideas from them, said V Rajanna, Chairman, CII-Telangana chapter. Speaking to The Hans India, Rajanna said: “Over one lakh women employees are working in Hyderabad IT industry.

We have 14,000 women employees at TCS in Hyderabad, accounting for 37 per cent. I see no obstacles for women to become entrepreneurs as Telangana government is encouraging a lot. T-Hub is a successful initiative of the government. Recently, CII and ISB organised a training programme for women board of directors".

GES is happening in Hyderabad at a right time. First of all, this global summit is taking place in India for the first time, adds All India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association (AIPMA). Such global summit will create vibrant blood for the industry to prosper and expand, opines Anil Reddy Vennam, Vice-President (South), AIPMA and former president of FTAPCCI.

Elaborating on how GES is helpful for budding entrepreneurs, Reddy said: “It’s a recognition of Brand Hyderabad. Recently, India has moved up in ease of doing business (EoDB). India is focusing on make in India and Hyderabad is encouraging startups and entrepreneurship. GES is a great opportunity for India and Hyderabad to showcase the inherent potential and talent pool.”

“Any conclave or summit helps younger generation understand business dynamics as it facilitates exchange of ideas among experienced businessmen, professionals and budding entrepreneurs. GES is a platform to create awareness among first generation entrepreneurs as it provides them more information. I hope it’ll address several issues. GES will also help the state and the country to attract investments. But, more than how much investments it generates, what’s important is what kind of echo system it creates,” Reddy adds.

US President Donald Trump’s daughter and senior adviser Ivanka Trump, 36, will lead a high-powered American delegation of officials, women entrepreneurs and businessmen for the three-day summit. Gowra Srinivas, President, FTAPCCI, said: “US-India partnership must be stronger for our economic growth.

The eighth edition of GES is very important as Ivanka Trump, advisor to US President, is heading the team. Though it’s a new state, Telangana is progressing very well in all spheres of economy. T-hub is the country’s largest incubator and this is already creating waves in the global startups segment".

He pointed out that new generation techie girls have great ideas and what’s needed for them is encouragement. FTAPCCI has a wing exclusively for business women as well and this takes care of budding women entrepreneurs in setting up new businesses.

India and the US are co-hosting the three-day GES in Hyderabad during November 28-30 and over 1,500 entrepreneurs from 170 countries and 350 participants from the US, a large number of whom are Indian-Americans, will take part.
