Kangana Ranaut's "Queen" has crossed ₹50 crore mark at the domestic box office; while Sunny Leone's "Ragini MMS 2" earned ₹36.46 crore.
"Queen" has reached the half century milestone at the domestic box office by earning more than ₹50 crore within 20 days of its box office run.
With this, "Queen" has become the third highest grosser film of 2014 after "Jai Ho" and "Gunday".
Salman Khan's "Jai Ho" is the highest grosser film of the year (till now) with ₹116 crore followed by Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor's "Gunday" which grossed ₹78.60 crore.
"Queen" is going strong in its third week run at the box office. The film is earning in the range of ₹1 crore during weekdays in third week.
Till third Tuesday, the film raked in total ₹49.15 crore from domestic market. On 20th day (third Wednesday), it raked in around ₹1 crore taking its overall score to more than ₹50 crore.
The film is expected to continue its strong run at the box office even in its fourth week.
Meanwhile, Sunny Leone starrer horror thriller "Ragini MMS 2" is going strong at the box office. Despite facing criticism from Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJS), the film fetch in good amount at the box office.
The first weekday's earnings are in the same range. Till sixth day, the horror thriller managed to rake in 36.46 crore.
"#RaginiMMS2 Wed 3.55 cr. Total: ₹ 36.46 cr nett. India biz... Rock-steady on weekdays," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Ragini MMS 2" should cross the ₹50 crore mark by second weekend. The film has certainly turned out to be a profitable business for the makers, as it earned the production cost within first three days of its release.
"Ragini MMS 2" should continue to dominate the market in the coming week as there is no other big release. Three films are releasing this week including "Dishkiyaoon", "O Teri" and "Youngistaan", but none of them is expected to start on a grand note.
