It has been years since Navdeep delivered a hit but he is pinning high hopes on crime comedy ‘Bham Bholenath’ which releases on Friday. “It’s a collection of three stories. Though they seem to have no connection initially, each story has a domino effect on the other as it unfolds, causing the principal characters to come under one roof in the climax. It’s basically a comedy over drugs,” he says, adding, “It might not be a novel script but it looks new, courtesy the narration.”
The actor plays Vivek in the film. “Vivek is in the pursuit of a job in Hyderabad and believes that the job will solve half his problems, especially his love related.”
Given his slump, the actor has teamed up with first time director Karthik Varma. He says Karthik is by far the best debutant director he has collaborated with. “He has clarity towards his craft. I was very impressed by how he handled emotional sequences. He had worked on the screenplay of ‘Karthikeya’ and his skills will be seen once again in ‘Bham Bholenath’.”
Ask him where he stands in the industry since it’s been more than a decade he entered the film industry? “I’m surviving,” he says nonchalantly. “If you say my choices are bad I agree. But in my defense, I’m choosing the best of what’s on offer to me. Either that or do nothing – that’s my choice. I can say that of the limitations I have I’m trying to do my best.”
Unlike most of his peers, the actor has no intentions of walking down the aisle as of now. “I’m not sure about marriage. If it happens it will. Right now I’m more worried about my future than anything else,” says the actor who is gung-ho about his role in ‘Natudu’, his next.
“I play a character with grey shades and I don’t think any Telugu cinema hero has essayed such a role till now. If it gets a proper release, it will standout. Even if it doesn’t, it has already given me immense contentment as an actor.”
