Rudhramadevi not just a war film: Gunasekhar

Filmmaker Gunasekhar says although upcoming period film ‘Rudhramadevi’ is the eponymous story of the warrior queen, it’s not entirely a war film. He says it’s also a romantic drama.“Though this is the story of the warrior queen Rudhramadevi, it should not be confused as a war film.

There’s enough romance in the film to appeal to all types of audiences. It’s not entirely a war film,” Gunasekhar said.Made on a whopping budget of Rs 70 crore, ‘Rudhramadevi’ will be a visual spectacle, he added.

“The Kakatiya dynasty has been recreated with great difficulty. I’m sure audiences are going to love the experience of going back in time. It will be a visual extravaganza for them,” he said.The film is likely to hit the screens in May.

“The post-production work is in full swing. Ilaiyaraaja sir is busy with the re-recording in London. He is expected to complete in the next couple of weeks. We are expecting to release in May. The date is yet to be locked,” he said.
