How did cinema happen?

I was into theatre in college. Since then I have been an actor. After moving to Mumbai, I pursued theatre and also worked on modelling assignments. It has been nearly three years and I am still here.

Do you have any backing in the film industry?

No. And that’s one reason I had to struggle in the beginning. However, I consider that my strength and strongly believe that this industry always accepts new talent no matter where you come from.

How different are films from theatre?

I believe theatre is the best way to groom one’s acting skills. Theatre is an actor’s medium while film is a director’s medium. A theatre actor knows the nuances of acting better. I personally love performing on stage. Theatre makes you loud whereas for films you have to be subdued.

Your short film named ‘Gulabee’ got an international award.

‘Gulabee’ happened by chance. Director Tushar Tyagi was looking for a female lead and he felt I was perfect for the part. It has won an award at the Canada International Film Festival. It was my first English short film and the subject was quite bold and rebellious.

How were you offered Tamil film ‘Naan Rajavaga Pogirein’?

While modelling I also considered films and gave a few auditions. After two rounds of auditions, I was selected for ‘Naan Rajavaga Pogirein’ and it was a wonderful experience.

It is been known that you campaigner for Swachh Bharat in Gujarat.

It is a privilege to be a part of the campaign. Being an Indian it’s my responsibility to contribute to a clean country. Being a well known face if I can encourage others to do the same, I won’t hesitate. In fact, I thank PM Narendra Modi for creating this wave of cleanliness.
