Rinku Karmakar whenever makes a comeback it has always been strong indeed. In her upcoming movie, "Yeh Vaada Raha", she will be playing a strong Maharashtrian Lady. Getting an insight to the role, we gather that Rinku turns a widow. Turning a widow she never sits at home nor does her role gets ceased with Sati Pratha. Instead she turns a Don sets to take the revenge of her husband’s murder."
Talking on her comeback role, Rinku Karmakar reveals, "I am happy to make a comeback with this Maharashtrian character. This lady is powerful, loud and commanding. She professes a strong personality and acts according to her whips and fancies. The backdrop is that of a chawl system. Usually the hard coreMaharashrian on a larger scale lives in the Chawl kind of an environment. I need to have the right kind of pronunciation which suits the character. The character may go ahead and live in a better environment in comparison to a chawl. But usually what happens is your originality never changes. Your real instinct living in the chawl sprouts out simply and that’s what the character is all about. How she pretends not to know people from the chawl where she lived. However trying to pretend -being a soft spoken lady to them she then flares up in her real chawl manner. I enjoyed performing this role."
On her come back: "When you say a comeback I may refer to a great come back always. I am lucky to have got good and strong characters, even with “Na Bole…” it was a great character which I played. Usually our friends and folks keep pondering why the hell Rinku is sitting at home? But I am one person who will not just take up a role unless it is something worthwhile. It is so silly of people coming to me with an offer to play a mother for a few episodes. Not that I am not open to playing a mother!! In Yeh Vaada also I am playing a mother. But then I need to have something to worth-while to perform."
On her role in Yeh Vaada Raha: "I will play a married woman for about 7 to 8 episodes and after that I will be draping a white sari as I turn a widow. While wearing colorful Kastha sari –Maharashtrian style was easy for me as now a days we have it stitched in that style, it took me not more than merely 40 minutes to get ready. Infact I having watched the few episodes at the launch today with you all, it is a pleasant surprise to me, I literally got goose bumps watching me doing all that dadagiri on reel. When we are enacting our scenes we do not know about the earlier scenes as well. We are always concentrating in the scenes which we do on a daily basis. After watching the whole episode, I gather that really this role for me is nothing less than a Bhai’s role. Yes! You are right when you say that this Tai is a,”Don” in her own manner. Getting the opportunity to play such a strong woman-oriented role, I am now forced to ponder over the fact that yeah! Rinku is bringing in the real woman based roles on to the idiot box. This will be the opening show which is surely going to be different from those saas bahu decked up heroine kind of roles. I am ofcourse proud about bringing in the new beginning for women oriented roles."
Rinku's powerful act: "Yeh sahimayenemeinmardokeliye role hai …yeh sachmeinekpahdo role hai !! [This role is actually for men. It is a faddo role] I am happy that it’s not personifying the beauty that mostly women lead turn in their shows - they cry at the right time, perfom puja, etc. I would rather sit at home then just highlighting beautifying roles."
On her journey: I am happy with my 17/18 years journey as a performer. I started at an early age of just 17. I have no regrets for having done what everroles I did. I think it’s been a beautiful journey. Earlier I was raw but now being experienced I know to chose from the roles being offered. I prefer sitting at home unless it’s something great to perform. Both me and Kiran[Husband] too are very choosy. We are also lucky to get whatever we desire. I chose roles over money. I feel money follows but getting good work is more important.”
On her family: "My son is 13 and he is not very keen in performing arts. I am happy with whatever he chooses. But Kiran always says that he will become an actor. He merely watches our shows. At times I ask him about my show –he just says that I was good. Whatever he would like to choose as a profession we will support him."
Rinku's real life persona: "I am not so ruthless in real like the Tai nor do I carry any of her mannerisms along with me once the director says - pack-up. Like Tai I am also very strong character and also loud Punjabi at times. But I will never take any revenge like Tai I am a kind hearted woman. I believe in live and let live policy. I am back to being normal and go home. May be we discuss a little at home. Kiran is fond of watching TV while I sit and read. Now we have been married for such a long time what more Kiran discusses about what happened on the sets etc at times. Otherwise we both relax in our own space. I love my Art and wish to enrich my experience though these learning processes on a daily basis. I also wish to learn dance. Though, I am not trained as such. I have done a little bit of dancing."
On TRP game: “I am not bothered about the TRP. The producers have to bother about it. For me I need to do my job to the best of my ability.”
