Carrying off the role of an independent woman on-screen is not an easy task is something that Anuhska has gradually discovered. The actress is playing the role of an obese woman in ‘Size Zero’, which is being directed by Kovelamudi Prakash.
We provide some exclusive tidbits about how Anushka got into the skin of the character. Generally, the stylists handpick the wardrobe of actors from a readymade store. All they need to have is a thorough understanding of the measurements and character brief to get the desired outfits.
But for ‘Size Zero’, there’s a different story. All the outfits garbed by Anushka in the comic drama were stitched and not handpicked readymade attires. This is essentially because her outfits in the film had to be stitched due to lack of availability of dresses given her obese physique.
A source close to the unit says, “Initially, the styling team tried to get her garments from a readymade store only to realize later that it was difficult to find ones that could fit her ‘bulky’ role in the film. As a result, the clothing had to be especially stitched in Hyderabad. The churidars, t-shirts, jogging tracksuits et al have been custom-made.”
Apparently, Anushka shot the film with around 60 – 70 garment changes and this number is huge considering the roles heroines get in a film. “The styling team had to mix and match from among the 70 odd garments for various scenes in film.
Almost her entire wardrobe is tailor-made. The team had to get the fabric, sketch the designs of her character and then make it,” adds the source. ‘Size Zero’ is about accepting oneself, staying contended and pulling it off with whatever one has been born with.
