With Sekhar Kammula’s next project starring Mahesh Babu taking a backseat for now, the presence of mind in the director is making shift focus on the one lined up next-the much talked about Hindi version of his Telugu film ‘Happy Days’.
About a year back it was widely speculated that Salman Khan would present the Hindi remake of the youthful entertainer. But Sekhar could not take up the project since had to honor another commitment of doing a Telugu-Tamil bilingual (‘Anamika’), plus he couldn’t get the right cast for the Hindi remake.
At a time when everyone thought the film was shelved, or perhaps jinxed, the director has surprised his detractors and prophets of doom by deciding to revive the script and work on the Hindi version.
A source close to the director confirms, “Yes, Sekhar has been working on the script of the remake version and that will be his next project.” The pre-production work has already begun.
It is learnt that the director has zeroed in on a college in Pune to shoot the film. The director is currently in search of the cast for the film, which might feature newcomers. ‘Happy Days’ is about eight friends and their days spent together in the four years at an engineering college.
