Actress-entrepreneur Neetu Chandra, who hails from Bihar (Patna) is elated and feels proud as her movie Mithila Makhan (in Maithili language) opened the ongoing film festival in Patna, ‘Bihar: Ek Virasat Kala & Film Mahotsav 2016’.

Produced by Neetu’s production house, Champaran Talkies and directed by Nitin Chandra (Neetu’s brother), Mithila Makhan is the first Maithili language film to be extensively shot in USA, Canada, India and Nepal. The movie takes Maithili language cinema on to a new horizon considering the film’s budget, script, cast and cinematography.
Neetu says, “For me, Mithila Makhan is a passionate project and the fact that it has been selected for this momentous occasion makes me believe that we did something right to promote Maithili language and the culture of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. I am eagerly looking forward to sharing what promises to be a terrific experience with my cast and producers.”
Among the other proposed films to be screened at the festival include Ganga Maiya Tohre Piyari Chadhibo, Teesri Kasam, Manjhi – The Mountain Man, Gunja and Sunhari Dastan.
The ongoing film festival ‘Bihar: Ek Virasat Kala & Film Mahotsav 2016’ (17th-20thth March) in Patna is an initiative to promote the culture, tradition and everlasting heritage of the state of Bihar to foster and strengthen cultural relations, understanding and awareness between Bihar and other regions. It aims to promote cultural exchanges with other regions and states as to develop relations internationally.
The film festival will have screenings of movies based on Bihar and/or made by filmmakers who have origins from Bihar, also featuring interactions and workshops with filmmakers.
