After the debacle of ‘Aagadu’ and ‘Bruce Lee’, Srinu Vaitla found himself at the receiving end from both critics and the industry bigwigs. After the debacle of ‘Aagadu’ and ‘Bruce Lee’, Srinu Vaitla found himself at the receiving end from both critics and the industry bigwigs. Compounding matters for him during this period was his wife filing a case against him coupled with the public spat with Prakash Raj which did not exactly enhance his reputation.
Considered to be one of the A-list directors in Tollywood along with the likes of SS Rajamouli, Trivikram Srinivas, VV Vinayak and Puri Jagan, Vaitla found offers hard to come by until he bagged Varun Tej’s ‘Mister’. Now, there is no way that the makers of `Mister’ would have paid Vaitla his market price as Varun Tej is still an upcoming hero in the process of creating his own market.
So, how much did Vaitla get paid for ‘Mister’? According to industry sources, Vaitla was not paid any cash but instead given the distribution rights to Vizag and East Godavari areas. Vaitla would be releasing the movie in collaboration with the local exhibitors.
If the movie does well, he stands to make a fortune. In other words, it’s a performance-based deal and understandably, Vaitla is keeping his fingers crossed. Starring Varun Tej, Lavanya Tripathi and Hebah Patel in the lead roles, ‘Mister’ is releasing on April 14.
