Anuhya’s death shocks Machilipatnam
Mumbai: A special team has been constituted to investigate the murder case of TCS software engineer, Esther Anuhya (23), whose burnt body was found in the Kunjumarg area, here, on Thursday. The body of the victim, who belongs to Machilipatnam in Krishna district, was identified by her father Prasad, with the help of a ring.
Kunjumarg DSP Mahesh Guriya told press persons here on Friday that the body was being in the night by air to Anuhya’s native place. He confirmed that she had got down at Kurla station 11 days back before disappearing.
The software engineer, who was returning to Mumbai after Christmas holidays, had boarded the Visakhapatnam-Lokmanya Tilak Express in Vijayawada on January 4. She had telephoned her father at around 10 pm after reaching Solapur.
Anuhya had promised to call him back after reaching the hostel, where she was staying, but failed. Prasad’s efforts to reach his daughter failed. He lodged a complaint with the railway police in Vijayawada on January 5 and also in Kurla station on January 8, after going there.
The murder case created a sensation here, with people expressing anguish in the social network sites. Several voluntary organisations and political parties are focusing special attention on the case.
The victim had two cell phones, which rang for some time and were found switched off. The Kurla police, who sent messages to the phones, traced one to the red light area of Kamatipura. Police, who located the body, found acid marks on the face.
With the help of Kurla station CC camera they found that she had boarded an auto. It is a mystery how her cell phone was located in Kamatipura. They are looking at the possibility of either the auto driver resorting to the attack or the involvement of a group. The TCS staff here are offering complete cooperation to police.
