Hyderabad: Customs officials on Thursday morning took a passenger into custody and seized 500 grams of gold worth Rs 15 lakh from his possession at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad while he was allegedly trying to smuggle the yellow metal.

RGIA Customs officials intercepted the passenger, Ajmat Khan, who arrived from Malaysia. After a thorough check the officials found gold in the form of biscuits concealed in his clothes. The market value of the recovered gold could be about Rs 15 lakh, a senior Customs official stated. “During questioning, Ajmat revealed that he was on his way to Chennai,” the official said.
