To buy a bike, man sells wife for ` 50,000

Betul : In a shocking incident of human trafficking, a man sold his wife to an agent for Rs 50,000 so that he could buy himself a bike, who in turn sold her to a third party.

The duo got married four years ago and have a one and a half year old child. A few months ago, the woman, who hails from a tribal family, went missing. As days passed, her parents got increasingly worried. Days later, she called her paternal aunt and informed that she had been sold to an agent. Her father approached police to lodge a missing persons complaint and told them that he suspected her husband had sold her.
