Hyderabad: In a major breakthrough, Nacharam police on Saturday arrested two persons in connection with the gruesome murder of a labourer at Ambedkar Nagar in Nacharam on May 26.

Disclosing details of the arrests, Nacharam police said that Kethavath Rupla Nayak, 40, murdered his brother Kethavath Reddyaiah, 35, with the help of his father, Kethavath Kumaraiah, 68, on May 26. A property issue has emerged as the reason for the murder of Reddyaiah.

Based on a complaint by Vijayalakshmi, wife of Reddyaiah, police registered a missing case and took up the investigation.

The police investigation revealed that Rupla and Kumaraiah beat Reddyaiah to death on the night of May 26. When he fell unconscious, they carried him to Turkapally area and threw him in the slush.

Acting on a tip-off, a special team of police arrested the duo at their house on Saturday. They were remanded to court. The police who initially registered a missing case altered the case under Section 302 of the IPC.
