Jilted lover takes cyber revenge, held

Hyderabad: In an act of revenge, a medical practitioner posted objectionable content and photographs of his friend on 'Whatsapp' with an intention to stall her marriage midway.

Madala Ravi, residing at Film Nagar, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of sending obscene, vulgar, threatening mails and photographs.

Based on the complaint made by the victim’s father on last Monday, Cyber Crime Police of Cyberabad registered a case and took up the investigation.

During the probe, it was found that Ravi came in contact with the victim and developed friendship. Eventually, their friendship turned sour due to some difference of opinion. As a result, the accused started sending the photographs of the victim to the victim's fiancé and asked him not to marry her. “The accused developed feelings for the victim who were good friends for quite a while, but differences have cropped up between them and they parted ways. But when he came to know about the victim’s marriage, he got snubbed and allegedly started sending photographs to her fiancé,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crimes, G Janaki Sharmila said.

“Ravi circulated the images among his friends and relatives. He was arrested under the IT Act for sending offensive and threatening messages by means of a computer resource,” said Sharmila.
