Detention orders against burglar

Hyderabad: Detention orders have been issued against a notorious house burglar Bharat Kumar Sharma alias Rahul, 23, a resident of Gulzar House in Charminar area to be produced in Cherlapalli Jail under Preventive Detention (PD) Act, said the City Commissioner of Police, M Mahender Reddy, on Thursday.

“As a part of promoting safety and security in the city, a sustained drive has been taken up to control the activities of rowdy elements who have been indulging in unlawful acts such as chain snatching, hurt cases, posing danger to the safety and security of the society. Bharat’s activities have been consistently prejudicial for the maintenance of peace at large in the society.

He was involved in as many as 19 criminal cases since 2009 under Hyderabad and Cyberabad police station limits,” Reddy said adding that he was served jail terms in the past but after release committed similar offences. His acts have been adversely affecting peace in the society and none were coming forward to depose evidence against him.

Peace cannot be maintained and confidence of public in the law cannot be restored unless he is kept out of the society for a considerable period, hence this detention, the CP added.
