Hyderabad: A betting racket was busted by the Cyberabad Special Operations Team police on Tuesday. The police arrested three persons, including two from a moving car, and seized about Rs 4.53 lakh from the accused.SOT Additional DCP E Ramchandra Reddy said on credible information, a team of SOT police raided a flat at Vertex Krupa Apartments in KPHB on Tuesday, and found three persons involved in accepting betting from punters through mobile phones.

The accused were identified as J V Kondareddy (42), owner of the flat and B Kishore Kumar (35) and K Murali Krishna (30), both residents of Ameerpet, were caught while they were moving in a car after collecting money from some punters, the Additional DCP said.

He said that Kondareddy had bought a multi-line calling machine and contacting punters to fix the betting price and he engaged Murali and Kishore to collect money. “To evade police vigil, they are carrying the cash in car, instead of keeping it in the flat. Six others, including the prime accused B Ramprasad Reddy, who were involved in the racket have been identified and search is on to nab them,” said additional DCP Ramachandra Reddy.

The police seized Rs 4.53 lakh from the moving car, a laptop, a car (Ts 07 EU 2226), seven mobile phones, and as many as 10 credit cards and also identified Rs 2 lakh in the bank account of the accused persons that was deposited by punters.

In another case, the SOT police arrested six persons on charges of indulging in gambling by betting money at LB Nagar. The police arrested R Hari (51), P Akkarao (55), T Balakoteshwara Rao (35), K Askoka (36), T Haribabu (40) and T Kannaiah (49) and seized Rs 62,000 cash, six mobile phones, one car and two bikes from their possession.
