Hyderabad: A software engineer was stabbed to death on Thursday by unidentified assailants in front of Swapnalok Complex in Secunderabad. Four people who came in a car attacked Sanjay Junge, 25, with knives while he was walking along the road early on Thursday.

He died on the spot. The deceased person was an employee with Sutherland Global Services. A security guard and some policemen tried to chase the car, but it fled away in great speed towards Tank Bund. Police suspect that a fight among friends could have led to the murder. The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for autopsy. A case was registered at Mahankali police station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Zone) Prakash Reddy said special teams have been constituted to track down the assailants. "Special teams have analysed the CCTV footage gathered from the surrounding areas. We are working on some leads. We have spoken to family and friends of Sanjay to get insights in to the possibility of rivals attacking him."

Investigation officials said, "Sanjay was returning to his home in Parsigutta after completing his night shift when he was attacked at around 4.30 am. The culprits had come in a White Maruthi Swift car and fled the spot via Patny Centre, even as a police vehicle tried to chase them. The security guard of a nearby ATM who was a witness to the crime tried to come to the victim's rescue. But the culprits escaped in the vehicle."
