HYDERABAD: Task Force sleuths have arrested two fraudsters duping e-tailers Flipkart and Amazon by returning their product parcels filled with sand.

Police have nabbed Yahiya Mohammad Ishaque, 19, a psychology student, and his brother-in-law Md Shahroz Ansari, 24, a BBA final year student from Golconda.

Yahiya had registered as a bookseller with Amazon and he was well-versed with packaging details of the e-marketing firms.

With his experience, Yahiya decided to cheat the e-tailers and sought Ansari's help. Subsequently, Yahiya and Ansari placed orders on Flipkart and Amazon for electronic items like laptop, camera and cell phone. "When the delivery executive brings the product to Yahiya's house, he receives the item while Ansari stays put with the delivery boy outside the house. Yahiya takes the package inside and carefully opens it. Yahiya then takes the product out, fills the package with sand and deftly seals it," deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Task Force, B Limba Reddy said.

With the 'sand parcel' Yahiya returns to the waiting executive and gives him the debit card, which is no more in use. When the transaction fails, Yahiya returns the product parcel containing sand to the executive.

After receiving a complaint from a representative of one of the aggrieved e-marketing firms, Task Force sleuths kept a watch on the activity of the two and caught them at their houses in Golconda on Wednesday.

Police recovered a Nexus 6P Gold mobile phone, a Microsoft mobile phone, a Samsung 6S Edge mobile phone, a Nikon digital camera, Lenovo laptop, a video game console and a bike from the possession of the two. The accused were handed over to Golconda police for further probe.
