However, the police could not apprehend the prime accused who had been into the illegal business for several years.

On a tip-off, a team of task force police raided the house of Rajesh Kumar Ingadi (39) at Gowliguda and caught him while talking to some persons and accepting betting on the cricket match between India and West Indies that was held at Mumbai on Thursday. “He (Rajesh) was taken into custody for questioning. He got losses in his textile business and incurred in losses.

About a year ago, Rajesh met Bharath Kumar and his brothers Kumar Chetan Shah and Kamlesh Shah, who lured him into betting racket with commissions,” said Task Force DCP B Limba Reddy in a press note.The DCP said that the accused had confessed to have collected money from about 40 to 50 punters as part the racket and was to handover money to the prime accused.

But he was caught by the police. “About Rs 9.03 lakh cash, one TV, four mobile phones and bike have been seized from him and were handed over to Afzalgunj police for further action,’ the DCP said.
