Techie arrested under Nirbhaya Act
A 25-year-old employee of HCL, Chennai was arrested by the Gachibowli police on charges of harassing a woman and attacking her boy friend with a knife.
Hyderabad: A 25-year-old employee of HCL, Chennai was arrested by the Gachibowli police on charges of harassing a woman and attacking her boy friend with a knife.
According to the Gachibowli police, at 11.30 am on Saturday, a call was received from a woman that one Betanapalli Sandeep Raj (25) had attacked her boy friend Rahul with a knife and injured him.
A team rushed to the spot and caught Sandeep, a native of Visakhapatnam. During investigation, it was revealed that Sandeep met the girl at an institute some time ago while undergoing training in a computer course.
He fell in love with the girl and proposed to her but she rejected him. Sandeep later shifted to Chennai for his job. On Saturday morning he came to Hyderabad in a flight from Chennai and went to Gachibowli to talk to the girl, where he saw her with her boyfriend Rahul.
On seeing this, Sandeep got infuriated and attacked Rahul with a knife and injured him. Sandeep has been arrested under Nirbhaya Act. A HCL ID card, knife, mobile phone and a flight ticket were seized from him and he has been remanded to custody.
