Hyderabad: Four welders from Uttar Pradesh suffered serious burn injuries as the gas cylinder of the welding machine exploded when they were fixing a water pipeline at Neredmet on Thursday.

Neredmet SI Maqbul Jani told mediapersons that Prabhu Yadav (22), Manoj (26), Brijesh Yadav (22) and Vinod Pandey (32), all welders from Uttar Pradesh, were called to city by one Venkata Krishna Reddy, who had taken the contract of fixing the HMWS&SB pipeline at Neredmet which had broken down. The welders had come to city about 25 days ago and were residing in Malkajgiri.

On Thursday morning, when the four persons were working on the pipeline, the gas cylinder used for welding exploded and they suffered critical injuries, the SI said. Based on the complaint lodged by victims, a case had been booked against contractor Venkata Krishna and his supervisor Gangi Reddy for probe, the SI said.
