Hyderabad: A 19-year-old worker from Borabanda was arrested by the KPHB police on charges of threatening a woman to slit her with a blade for failing to strip her clothes and give away her mobile phone.

According to the police, a 22-year-old woman techie lodged a complaint with the KPHB police on August 13, stating that while she was sleeping in her hostel, at about 2.15 am, an unknown man climbed up the window and put his hand on her waist, and pulled out a phone lying beside her on the bed.

The woman woke up and attempted to raise an alarm, but the thief threatened to slit her hand with a blade. He asked the woman to strip and stand nude in order to get her mobile phone back.

During the argument, other girls sleeping in the room woke up and screamed for help, and the thief fled away from the scene,” the police said, quoting the complainant.

On verification of CC camera footage and by tracking the mobile number of the victim, the accused, identified as S Santosh Kumar (19), was caught at Borabanda. During the investigation, the police found that the accused Santosh was earlier arrested by the Karimnagar and Narsingi police in cases of mobile thefts.

The police also said that the accused used to collect mobile numbers of women from the stolen phones and used to call them and harass them. He has been arrested and sent to judicial remand.
