Hyderabad: The police cracked the case of a gang rape of a teenager hailing from Kolkata after two months on Friday and arrested the prime accused. According to police, a choreographer and his friends had kept the girl in confinement for three days and had raped her.

The prime accused is said to be involved in several other cases. A man hunt is on to trace his accomplices, police said. The 19-yr old victim was on a visit to the city and got acquainted with a woman, named Pinky Roy while in a sharing cab.

In the pretext of helping her visit places, the woman lured the victim while she was staying in Hotel Park. She also informed the victim that her friend, the prime accused Preeth Shergill alias Rajveer Singh, 39, residing in West Marredpally, would help them with his car.

On February 15, Pinky introduced the victim to the prime accused at Hotel Sitara Paradise. He picked up both of them from the Hotel. He was supposed to drop them at some planned destination. However on their way, Shergill signaled the woman to get down.

Later, he took the victim to his flat in Krishnapuri Colony, Marredpally, on the pretext of some important work. There, he offered her some soft drink laced with sedatives. After she began to feel dizzy, he raped her and also snatched away her wallet and 2 gold rings. The next day his close aide Sultan alias Niraj and two more friends visited the prime accused on February 16, amongst whom one indulged in the crime.

On the third day, the prime accused tried to make a nude video of her. But for fear of being caught, he stopped shooting. The victim was later set free and was asked her to leave for Kolkata. However, immediately after reaching the Airport, she lodged a complaint with RGIA police.

The police began investigation and zeroed in on the accused on Friday night, after more than two months. Cases were registered against the accused under section 328, 343, 347, 354(B), 354(C), 376(A), 376(D), 394, 506 r/w 109 IPC & Sec. 67 A of IT Act 2000 at Marredpally PS.
